Many of us were shocked and dismayed last week as we watched Fairfield woman Brandi Chin appear to violently throw her dog during an argument with her soon-to-be-ex-boyfriend. But there's good news on the dog front, as the resilient pup has been found, and is unharmed.
You likely remember the sordid tale. On December 19 Chin and her boyfriend Ben Perez were having an argument on a Fairfield street, when they were caught on a security camera belonging to David Shields. During the altercation, Chin picked up her dog (also named "Ben) and heaved him, hard, into the road.
BRANDI CHIN of Fairfield Pennsylvania st. If this isn't animal abuse I don't know what is.

Shields posted the footage to Facebook last week, where it caught the attention of Solano County Animal Services and the Fairfield Police Department. But while Chin remained at large, Ben the dog didn't. ABC7 reports that, somehow, the pug ended up back with Perez, who brought him in to Solano County Humane Animal Services for a veterinary exam on Friday.
After the vet determined that the pug was in good health, he was released back into Perez's care. (Yes, this is the same Perez who said that he doesn't think Chin "should be charged anything like that at all. That dog loves her you know. She loves the dog. They're tight.")
However, according to Fox 40 (thanks, commenter ChadHorn!), the dog also went back to Chin, who says that "she wants people to understand she does not abuse her dog."
According to Chin, "the video captured her in the middle of a fight with a friend and while she simply meant to release Benny, in her anger and the chaos of the argument, she said she released him harder to the ground than she had intended."
The Fairfield Police Department says that it's now up to the Solano County District Attorney's Office to decide if Chin should be charged with animal abuse. Thoughts, anyone?
