A man who was attempting to ride a Muni bus was instead assaulted Wednesday, when an unknown pair of men attacked him from behind.

Police say that the 33-year-old male victim was stepping into a Muni bus at Mission Street and Geneva Avenue at 8:45 Wednesday night when the onslaught began. According to the San Francisco Police Department report on the matter, the man "was attempting to board MUNI" (it's not an acronym, people) when the two male suspects of unknown age "approached him behind."

One of the men punched the victim in the head twice, then the other struck him in the skull "with a blunt wooden object." The victim was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground.

Police say that the aggressors then fled south on Mission in a black, two-door pickup truck. The man was transported to San Francsico General Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police say were not life threatening.

As of Friday morning, police say that the suspects remain at large, and no arrests have been made in the case. If you know anything about the attack, police ask that you call SFPD's Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or to text a tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
