Local since 2004
SFist launched in 2004 and has chronicled more than two decades of change in San Francisco. The site combines original reporting with sharp, useful coverage of the public records, announcements, and conversations shaping life around the Bay.
Jay Barmann has led SFist as Editor-in-Chief since 2014. A Bay Area writer and editor, he previously edited Grub Street San Francisco and holds a B.A. in English from Columbia University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco.

SFist is published and owned by Impress3 Media, Inc. The newsroom makes its editorial decisions independently. Advertising, sponsorships, and other commercial relationships do not determine SFist's news coverage; paid material is labeled so readers can distinguish it from editorial work.
