Just in case you were wondering, it looks like Oakland voters didn't take troll-candidate Peter Liu's candidacy too seriously in Tuesday's election. The gun-toting, gay-hating, horseriding advocate garnered only 246 votes for his armed militia-based campaign that would have established a Community Empowered Safety Plan in Oakland, in preparation for the next terrorist attack, and/or just to combat neighborhood crime.

Compare that to new Mayor-Elect Libby Schaaf, who earned 16,243 first-choice votes — and incumbent Mayor Jean Quan, who only got half that, at 8,819 first-choice votes.

Liu was probably mocking the mayor's race more than he was actually, seriously running, however it's unclear how much of what he said in his bizarre campaign video is actually close to his true beliefs. Regardless, it got him some late-night TV attention from Jimmy Kimmel, who was especially a fan of Liu's prominent earlobes.

Liu is a 33-year-old Iraq War veteran and (allegedly) a self-made multi-millionaire who's married with kids, and he claimed he spent $0 on his campaign.
