If there's anything easier to make fun of than the 1980s in general, it is definitely San Francisco's local transit system. Which is why this training video for Bay Area bus drivers, apparently made sometime in the early 80s, is pretty much the best thing we've seen all week. In just 10 short minutes, the helpful narrator walks us through what to do in everyday situations like: smokers on the bus, old ladies who don't want to pay, deplorable teens with boom boxes and purse-snatchers (they didn't have cellphones, duh). And it's all wrapped in a plot that follows one extremely annoying day in a fictional bus driver's dramatized life.
Of course, we laugh now. (Look at those kids just setting fire to stuff in the back of the bus! Because they're cold!) But where's the part in the video that tells you how to fix the bus duct tape and garbage bags?!
Thanks to our transit-loving friends over at Muni Diaries for bringing this one to our attention.
