Described as "an intentional act" by Caltrain authorities, an unidentified 19-year-old Palo Alto man was struck and killed this morning by a train in Palo Alto. Happening just after midnight, "the man was hit on the train tracks about four-tenths of a mile north of the California Avenue station at a location where there is no vehicle or pedestrian crossing."
This morning's death is the agency’s first fatality of the year. "In 2010, there were 11 fatalities on the Caltrain right of way, said Dunn, down from 19 a year earlier."
