Sadly, it's not an attempt to Go Green and replace those evil, chemical-ridden waters of community pools with something more natural. (Really, what child wouldn't enjoy a nice mineral bath in the hot Berkeley summer?) Rather, the city is broke and can't afford to maintain the Willard pool after Berkeley voters rejected a ballot measure that would have created a special tax to raise funds for the purpose. Berkeleyside has all the photos which are sure to dampen the spirits of any schoolchildren already looking forward to summer vacation.
