BENEFIT: Glen Park's Bird & Beckett Books & Records are having an 11-Hour Charlie Parker Jam Session to help Bird & Beckett "beat the banks." It's going on as we speak with a whole line-up of bebop players and special guests.
All day until 9 p.m. // Bird & Beckett Books & Records (653 Chenery St) // free
FILM: Here's your chance to see The Passion of Joan of Arc, one of the best silent films ever made (based on popular opinion), at the beautiful Grace Cathedral. The original version of the film was lost for decades, after a fire destroyed the master negative, but a virtually complete print was found in 1981. The film also features a new score by In the Nursery, twin brothers Nigel and Klive Humberstone, which the cathedral acoustics will showcase wonderfully.
8 p.m. // Grace Cathedral (1100 California St) // $20
FOOD: Cookbook author Carol Field and cooking school teacher/art historian Fabrizia Lanza, of Anna Tasca Lanza Cooking School, will share the hidden and unique Sicilian culinary traditions associated with the magnificent The Feast of Saint Joseph. Fabrizia Lanza will air her short documentary on the ritual foods associated with the festival.
6:30 p.m. // Italian Cultural Institute (425 Washington St, Ste 200) // free
