What in heaven's name does "San Francisco values" mean?

We've come across this term again over the last few months, one we suspect we'll start seeing more of as the next (real) election approaches.

Whenever we hear "____ values," the hairs on our neck stand up. We get concerned. Is this another way of excluding other people's ideas and lifestyles? Or does it mean Progressive ideas? Does it mean Ross Mirkarimi? Or does it mean Bevan Dufty? Does it mean free drugs, free sex, free rock 'n' roll? Does it mean no more foie gras? Does it mean living your life like Bambi Lake? (In which case, we're in.) Does it mean living your life with the hope that one day you will "accidentally" run into Vanessa Getty, with the misguided belief that the two of you will then become lifelong soulmates? (In which case, done and done.) Does it mean these guys? But what about these guys? Does it mean not acting like a total asshole? Does it mean we have to watch Trauma next season?

OK, we do know it's a pejorative used by murder-worthy FOX News on-air personalities; and that some locals are trying reclaim, if you will, the term. But what do "San Francisco values" mean to you?
