Aw boo.
It's one thing for locals to hate on San Francisco Mayor Newsom -- let's face it, most of you Bay Area types are out-of-state Asperger's Syndrome cases who zombieishly loathe anything that reeks of a true California lifestyle; and we adore you for your mildly retarded mindset -- but when the meth makers from Stockton and the sun-kissed trash from Irvine starts hating on our fine Mayor? Well, them there are fighting words.
According to a recent poll conducted for CBS 5 by SurveyUSA:
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has the highest unfavorability rating among California voters and is viewed as the most unqualifed to be governor among the potential candidates in both major political parties
(Slow down with the sugar coating, CBS 5!)
It seems a third of the state's registered voters view Newsom as "unfavorable," with 27 percent slamming him as ""completely unqualified." Only six percent believed he has the highest possible qualifications. (Compared to, say, Governor Steroid? Or Gray Davis? Really?) Probably because of the whole gay marriage / intervention / Tourk-humping thing. Whatever. How can you not like a Libra? It's just not possible.
But in better news, the poll goes on to claim that "Attorney General Jerry Brown generated the highest favorability rating at 31 percent and was the highest viewed, at 10 percent, as the top in terms of qualifications." Does this mean California can look forward to a return to an era of high-grade coke, LSD, oversized sungalsses, pool parties, and Pucci dresses? We can only hope.
