The often busy sidewalks of the Upper Haight turned violent Tuesday night with reports of gunfire and at least one person reportedly injured.

Shots were fired at around 11:09 pm near the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, according to an automated SFPD dispatch-monitoring account. San Francisco police reportedly responded to the scene within four minutes.

As the Chronicle reports, SFPD officers said they found multiple spent shell casings at the scene, but found no injured victims.

Subsequently, within minutes of the gunfire report, a person arrived at an area hospital with a gunshot wound, and police have not confirmed whether this victim is connected.

Police dispatch records show that multiple calls came in within minutes of 11:09 pm about shots fired at other intersections in the vicinity as well, per the Chronicle. Callers said they heard shots at Fulton and Lyon streets, as well as Haight and Masonic streets, suggesting either a gunfight on the move, or residents believing the gunshots were closer to them than they were.

No suspect information has been made available and no arrests have been made.

Gunfire is not common in the Haight-Ashbury vicinity, though there was a homicide near Haight and Masonic in 2021.
