Day Around the Bay: Multiple Crashes Back Up Bay Area Freeways

Local:

• There were multiple collisions and subsequent traffic backups on Bay Area freeways Monday, including a three-car crash on 101 northbound in San Francisco near Vermont Street, and an overturned vehicle blocking two westbound lanes of I-80 in the East Bay. [Chronicle]

• Regarding the elderly Dublin couple who allegedly "took turns" shooting their 40-year-old son-in-law in a parking lot on Saturday, the victim was reportedly in a custody battle with his wife, whom he was in the process of divorcing, and the couple had made dueling allegations of child abuse against each other. • At a hearing today in San Francisco, a judge denied Nima Momeni's defense attorneys any more time to gather evidence for a motion for a retrial for the killing of Bob Lee, and Momeni's sentencing has been delayed pending the prosecution reviewing and responding to the motion. [KTVU]

• Employees of the FBI are freaking out after a major hack appears to have compromised a great deal of their personal information. Many employees had not heard about the hack until a news report about it last week. [New York Times]
