A drag show tribute and celebration of life for the great Dolly Parton has already been scheduled for Friday, and San Francisco is likely to see more events, drag and otherwise, in the coming days.

The first of what will surely be many local tributes to Dolly Parton was announced Tuesday afternoon, hours after we learned that the great singer, actress, and icon had passed at age 80. This first event, which will be both a drag queen tribute and celebration of life for Parton, is happening at Beaux, with the showtime listed as 9:30 pm Friday, August 28.

The show will be led by Rupaul's Drag Race runner-up Lady Camden, and will feature at least eight other performers, including Adriana Roy, Bionic Simon, Amoura Teese, Pony Bambino, and more.

And for the audience, big hair and rhinestones are encouraged.

"Like so many of you, we are heartbroken by the news of Dolly Parton’s passing," the organizers write. "Dolly meant so much to so many of us. Her music has been part of our lives for generations, but it was also her humor, kindness, generosity, acceptance and unapologetic spirit that made her so deeply loved — especially within the LGBTQ+ community."

"So this Friday, we want to do what our community does best: come together," the continue. "Not simply to mourn Dolly, but to celebrate her. To sing the songs, share the memories, laugh, dance, dress up and fill Beaux with the joy she gave all of us."

Prior to the 9:30 (or 10 pm-ish) show, VJ Aki promises to be showing Dolly Parton music videos and video of her performances throughout the night.
