It's official: Next year's WNBA All-Star Game will be played at Ballhalla.
The WNBA announced Tuesday that the 2027 All-Star Game will head for the first time to San Francisco, to the Chase Center, on July 31, 2027.
This puts to rest rumors and murmuring that had gone on over the past couple of months about where the All-Star Game might head next year, after several established WNBA teams have now hosted the game multiple times — including the Connecticut Sun, which has hosted the All-Star Game a whopping four times at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.
Players in the league had apparently been gunning for the Golden State Valkyries to be hosts next year, as they've been having a stellar second season in the league, and with San Francisco being a well-established and very excitable sports city.
"We are thrilled to bring AT&T WNBA All-Star to the San Francisco Bay Area for the first time,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert in a statement. “The Golden State Valkyries have brought incredible energy and excitement to the WNBA from the moment they were announced as an expansion team in 2023, and the response from fans across the Bay Area has been remarkable."
Engelbert added, "Valkyries fans have embraced this team with an extraordinary level of passion and enthusiasm, and we can’t wait to see that energy on full display for an unforgettable All-Star weekend next summer."
Mayor Daniel Lurie is, of course, also excited.
"San Francisco is the center of the sports world," Laurie said in a statement. "The world can see that San Francisco is the place to be. When the WNBA's best come next year, our unmatched passion for women's sports, and our city's comeback, will be on full display."
The news comes fast on the heels of the confirmation that the Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be played in San Francisco the following year, in 2028, just as the Summer Olympics are happening down in LA.
The WNBA All-Star Game will come with a weekend of events that will also include the second annual shooting skills challenge on July 30.
The Valkyries have been having an extraordinary 2026 season, currently ranked second in the league behind four-time league champions the Minnesota Lynx (whom they'll be playing tomorrow).
And news of the All-Star Game comes just as the Valkyries officially clinched their berth in the 2026 playoffs following Monday night's win against the Dallas Wings.
