The woman who was found dead on Market Street last Friday morning after a collision involving a scooter and another vehicle has been identified as a 32-year-old San Francisco resident.

The victim has been identified by the SF Medical Examiner as 32-year-old Yebin Kim. As the Chronicle reports, Kim was killed by a commercial truck in the area of Market and Powell streets on August 7 just after 8:15 am, and the truck was reportedly branded with the hard iced tea brand Surfside.

The driver of the truck has been cooperating with the investigation.

Various witness reports came in on Friday morning after the fatal collision shut down Market Street for several hours. An initial report suggested a pedestrian had been struck by a bus, but it then emerged that the victim was found with a helmet and scooter lying next to her.

ABC 7 reported, via a witness, that the scooter-rider, Kim, may have caught a wheel in a streetcar track, which is a common hazard on Market Street for bicycles and scooters. This reportedly caused Kim to fall off the scooter into the roadway where she was then struck by a box truck.

Kim suffered a traumatic head injury, according to the medical examiner, and her helmet was clearly knocked off her head.

Further details about how the crash occurred are still pending, as the investigation continues.

The incident follows a spate of scooter injuries, some of them serious, that were reported at SF General on July 4th, when many people took scooters out to try to watch the fireworks.
