In town for three big concert nights on the Peninsula, one of the members of K-pop sensation BTS opted to do as the locals do Sunday morning while getting in a 12K, and he joined the Bay to Breakers race.
Video of Suga, one of the members of BTS, the rapper whose real name is Min Yoongi, can be seen near the front of the first pack of racers in video of the race's start, wearing gray shorts and a black sweatshirt — he did not, it seems, get the costuming memo.
But he seemed to have a mini GoPro or similar camera mounted on his hat brim, so as SFGate notes, fans are speculating that the colorful footage of the race will make into toa BTS vlog soon, along with footage from the Stanford Stadium concerts — where Suga was reportedly seen wearing the same camera at a sound check.
Here's an example of an all-caps Instagram post showing Suga at the start of the race:
Suga reportedly completed the race with a time of 01:04:43, averaging 8:41 per mile — and per the Chronicle, he made some post-race remarks in which he lamented what every Bay to Breakers racer laments: the dastardly Hayes Hill. He said his pace was better before he hit Hayes Hill.
Here's the footage of the start of the race, and do you see that dude who looks like a paparazzo running out of the way after likely catching a shot of Suga?
