- A Sonoma County sheriff's deputy, 44-year-old Jeremy Lyle, reportedly shot and killed his ex-partner and the mother of his children on Sunday before taking his own life. A neighbor reported that Lyle handed her the couple's eight-month-old infant and told her that the mother was badly hurt; the mother was identified as Mari Bonnici. [KTVU]
- Richmond police have released body-cam footage from the officer-involved shooting last week in which they killed Angel Montaño, a 27-year-old reserve officer with the Marines. The footage appears to show Montaño, who was in the midst of a mental health episode, jumping out of a door toward officers with two knives. [KTVU]
- Delays apparently continued at SFO for United Airlines passengers on Monday, following a major technical issued prompted a ground stop last week. [Chronicle]
National:
- An explosion or multiple explosions at a US Steel plant in Clairton, Pennsylvania left at least two people dead, and around five others hospitalized with critical injuries. The company is now a subsidiary of Japan-based Nippon Steel Corp, and this plant was the site of two previous explosions in 2009 and 2010, one of which left a worker dead. [Associated Press]
- Three people are dead after a shooting in a Target parking lot in Austin, and the suspect is reportedly in custody. [CNN]
- According to internal ICE records, the number of people in immigration detention hit a new modern high on Monday of 60,000. [New York Times]
