A woman was fatally stabbed Saturday night in Potrero Hill, and a 25-year-old woman is now in custody in connection with the stabbing.
35-year-old Latanette McDaniel was stabbed Saturday night around 11 p.m. on Kansas Street between 25th and 26th Streets. As the Examiner reports, she had "no fixed address." McDaniel was transported to a hospital Saturday night where she later died.
A San Francisco woman, 25-year-old Vernisha Mandigo, was arrested in connection with the killing, as Bay City News reports. Mandigo was booked into county jail on Sunday on suspicion of murder. No further details have been released by the SFPD regarding a possible motive or the circumstances that led to the stabbing.
Update: The Chronicle spoke to McDaniel's two sisters, one of whom said that McDaniel knew the accused killer and the stabbing came after a dispute between the two women. McDaniel was life-long resident of the Bay Area and had seven children all under the age of 14.
Saturday's killing marks the 38th homicide of the year for San Francisco, according to the SFPD. At last count, following a fatal shooting last week in the Bayview, SFist had the count at 34, however three more cases have apparently been classified as homicides since late October.
