The man who doused a woman with bleach as she stood on a Tenderloin street remains at large today, but police are hopeful surveillance photos of the suspect might help them track down the attacker.
As previously reported, the assault occurred at around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30. According to the San Francisco Police Department, a 53-year-old woman who'd been standing on the 100 block of Eddy Street, which is between Mason and Taylor Streets, was approached by the man you see in the photos above.
The man "instructed her to leave...he left the area, then immediately returned and dumped bleach on the victim," police say.
Following the assault, the man "fled the area on a red mountain bike and went towards the Powell Street BART/Muni Station," police say. He hasn't been seen since.
According to video obtained by KRON 4, after the attack the victim "can be seen wiping her eyes. After about 15 minutes of her being in distress, a man checks on her and then someone calls for help."
Police say that the victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries, which according to KRON include "eye injuries and loss of her vision."
Investigators with SFPD's Tenderloin Station canvassed the area's surveillance cameras and pulled together the above photos of the suspect. They ask that if you recognize the suspect or have information related to the case that you contact police anonymously at 415-575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message, referencing case number 170-619-971.
