Fast-casual chicken joint Proposition Chicken just announced the opening of their second location, in Oakland's Lakeshore neighborhood, in September. Serving what they say is "the best damn chicken and pretty yummy people too" since opening on upper Market Street in 2013, Proposition Chicken's new location at 3260 Lakeshore Avenue is set to debut on September 13.

Founder Ari Feingold says in a release "We’d been looking at spots for over two years, and with no exaggeration I can say that when we first stepped onto Lakeshore Avenue, we knew that it was perfect." He adds, "The welcome we’ve felt during the build has only confirmed this."

Proposition Chicken's election-themed menu offers three (really just two) chicken options: fried, flipped (rotisserie), and fake (tofu). These can be ordered as sandwiches, salads, or as an entree with side dishes like Brussels sprouts and bone broth.

They use only Mary's free-range, air-chilled chickens, and they make a point of giving back to the community with their Non-Profit Mondays in which 10 percent of all dine-sales are donated to a local non-profit. The program has raised over $17,000 for non-profits including Dress for Success, the San Francisco LGBT Center, Homeless Youth Alliance, and the San Francisco Film Society.
