A man who was shot in San Francisco Sunday has died, taking the city's homicide count for 2017 to 33.
As previously reported, a man was shot on the 1500 block of Folsom Street, which is between 11th and 12th Streets, at 2:04 a.m. Sunday.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the victim was leaving an area "business with a group" when "an argument ensued."
During the argument, police say that a suspect believed to be in his late 20s fired a shot, striking the victim, whom spokesperson with the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office says has been identified as 31-year-old Carlo Tateo, a resident of Oakland.
Tateo was subsequently transported to San Francisco General Hospital, for injuries police said Monday morning were not life-threatening. However, according to a Chron report from Tuesday morning, Tateo had actually "died within hours" of his arrival at the hospital.
Police said Monday that Tateo's shooter has not been arrested, an assertion the Chron also reports. As of Tuesday, no additional suspect information was available, police say, nor was the nature of the argument that sparked the violent confrontation known.
According to an SFPD spokesperson, Sunday's shooting marks the city's 33rd homicide for 2017. This follows last Wednesday's shooting at a Potrero Hill UPS facility, during which 56-year-old Wayne Chan of San Francisco, 46-year-old Michael Lefiti of Hercules, and 50-year-old Benson Louie of San Francisco were killed by co-worker Jimmy Lam, who took his own life at the scene.
