A man seated on a busy Mission Street block was injured Sunday, when a robber stabbed him over the necklace he was wearing.

Police say that the crime went down at 10:01 p.m. Sunday, on the 2300 block of Mission Street, which is between 19th and 20th Streets.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, a suspect in his 20s approached the 35-year-old victim as the latter "was sitting outside of a business."

The suspect tried to grab the seated man's necklace, police say, but the victim resisted.

During the struggle for the necklace, the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife, police say. The attack allowed the thief to gain control of the accessory, so he grabbed it and fled on foot.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police say. The suspect remains at large, and as of publication time no arrests have been made in the case.
