A man was fatally stabbed in San Francisco Monday morning, just blocks from the Tenderloin Police Station.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, the slaying took place at the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Jones Street at 8:07 a.m. Monday.

Police gave few details on the case, and had not returned a call for more details as of publication time Tuesday. But here's what we do know: The victim, a man in his 40s (Bay City News has him at 45), was stabbed by a suspect police say was described as being in his 30s.

The was pronounced dead on arrival, police say. As of Tuesday morning, the San Francisco Medical Examiner's Office had not publicly identified the victim.

As noted by the Chron, the scene of the stabbing is "about two blocks from the Tenderloin Police Station," which is located at 310 Eddy Street.

As of Tuesday morning, the suspect in the stabbing remains at large, and no arrests have been made in the case.

Update: As the Examiner reports, the victim has been identified as 47-year-old Robert Matthews, who had no fixed address.
