The victim of a brazen mid-afternoon assault in the Tenderloin has died, and police say that they are investigating the attack as a homicide.

According to the San Francisco Police department, a 61-year-old man was the victim of what police initially described as an "aggravated assault" at 3:37 p.m. Thursday near O’Farrell and Larkin Streets.

The man, who Hoodline says "goes by the name Milkshake," was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said Friday morning. The San Francisco Medical Examiner had not publicly identified the victim as of publication time.

No information on his cause of death has been provided, but police confirm that they are seeking five "unknown" suspects in the attack. As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made in the case, which is San Francisco's third homicide for 2017.
