An early-morning argument between two groups of people turned violent Monday, when a man slashed a woman with a samurai sword.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, the two factions were squabbling near the bustling area of 32nd Avenue and Noriega Street at 2:28 Monday morning when the stabbing occurred.
The dispute began as a verbal one, police say, but turned violent when a 31-year-old man "retrieved a Samurai Sword from" a friend. As the newly armed man began to unsheath his weapon, he cut a 24-year-old woman in the leg, according to the SFPD.
The victim was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment of injuries police say are not life-threatening. The suspect, police say, was arrested at the scene.
