Why don't drivers stop at this stop-signed intersection at Great Highway and Balboa Street? Are they too transfixed by the view of Ocean Beach to notice the sign? Secure in the knowledge that oncoming traffic is at a minimum? Or is it just sheer cussedness? Whatever the case, KRON 4's Stanley Roberts isn't having it, filming a remarkable number of drivers who just don't give a crap and drive straight through the three-way intersection.
And as he does, he reminds us of a fun fact: It's way worse to get caught running a red light than a stop sign, as San Francisco citations for an illicit crossing of a constantly-changing light will run you over $400 bucks, while after court fees running a stationary, constant stop sign is a comparable bargain at $229. Or, you can save yourself a whole lotta dough and stop for both! Your call.
