For the second day in a row, Ellis Street in San Francisco's Tenderloin District has been the site of an early-morning shooting that claimed a man's life.
According to the San Francisco Police Department, today's homicide was perpetrated by an "unknown" man with a handgun at 4:30 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Polk and Ellis Streets.
That's four blocks away from yesterday's gunplay at Ellis and Jones Streets, a 1 a.m. shooting that injured two men and a woman and killed 44-year-old San Francisco resident Shunsie Ellis, the SF Medical Examiner's office confirmed Friday.
In this morning's case, police say that the 24-year-old male victim, who has since been identified by the San Francisco Medical Examiner's office as SF resident Mitchell Warren, was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His death, police say, is San Francisco's 35th homicide for 2016.
According to the SFPD, a spokesperson for which declined to provide further information into the slaying pending an investigation, no arrests have been made in either of this week's Tenderloin homicide cases. As always, anyone with any information on this shooting (or any other crimes) is urged to call SFPD's Anonymous Tip Line at 415-575-4444 or to text a tip to Tip411 with SFPD at the beginning of the message.
