Typically somnolent Menlo Park was disturbed over the weekend by armed robbers according to police. At 9:15 p.m., officers arrived at the Trader Joe's at 720 Menlo Avenue but were too late to catch disguised suspects who absconded with an undisclosed sum of cash, Bay City News reports.

The suspects — who wore sweatshirts, matching gray sweatpants, and a white face masks, according to witnesses who also described them as Polynesian men — entered the store after it was closed. According to police, the suspects ordered employees down on the ground and demanded money. The Mercury News reports that Menlo Park Police and other law enforcement agency officers searched the area for the suspects but didn't find them.

Incidentally, according to statistics released the police department, Menlo Park has only had two robberies, total, so far this year, and those occurred in May and June, respectively. The city has meanwhile seen just 39 burglaries year to date.

Anyone with information about the TJ's robbery is encouraged to call the Menlo Park Police Department at (650) 330-6300 or their anonymous tip line at (650) 330-6395.
