A 14-year-old robbery suspect was hospitalized Thursday evening, after a police say their pursuit of the youth ended in a bit of dirt bike daredevilry.
According to a report from the San Francisco Police Department, officers on patrol say they caught sight of "a 211 suspect from the Central" near the intersection of Third Street and Yosemite Avenue at 4 p.m. Thursday.
In police parlance, "211" means "robbery," and "the Central," in this case, refers to SFPD's Central District, which covers the Financial district, Chinatown, North Beach, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Telegraph, Nob and Russian Hills.
The teen, who police say was on a "motorized dirt bike," allegedly attempted to flee the scene when he spotted the SFPD vehicle, and "maneuver[ed] a 'wheelie' into the front end of a patrol vehicle causing a collision."
This move resulted in injuries for the dirt biker that were serious enough that he was transported to San Francisco General Hospital, according to police. He remained in stable condition there as of Thursday evening.
He was also arrested, according to the SFPD. Additional details on what charges he's expected to face, or the robbery in which he was suspected were not provided at publication time.
