A site that has sat empty since a 2014 Mission Street fire destroyed local discount store Big House Inc. may soon be home to a mixed-use condo and retail space. SocketSite reports on plans to build a five-story, 16 condo building at the 2632 Mission Street address.

This, of course, should not be confused for the fire-destroyed building just down the street that just this past April burned for the third time.

Renderings of the proposed building were done by Gabriel Ng + Architects, and plans submitted to the Planning Department note the proposed building has eight one-bedroom apartments and eight two-bedroom apartments. There is zero on-site parking associated with the project.

However, nothing has been approved yet, and SocketSite notes that the owner has the lot on the market for $5.888 million, so a sale could derail the entire project. Either way, this proposed design may be a window in the future Mission Street as stalwarts like Big Lots continue to go the way of the dodo.
