There's still no opening date for the Mission Beach Cafe takeover of the space formerly known as Luna Park (694 Valencia Street at 17th). But, as Tablehopper now reports, via a letter that went out to the neighborhood, the place is set to be called Mission Beach Valencia, and will not mess with the formula of the original restaurant too much.

We first learned almost a full year ago that the space had been sold to Mission Beach Cafe owner Bill Clarke, although he's been mum about what he had planned for the place.

Though the location came with a full liquor license, plans for a cocktail program may not exist — the liquor license transfer we noted at the time has been withdrawn.

What we do know, though, is that Mission Beach Valencia will feature a similar menu, keeping things seasonal, fairly simple, and famers'-market-driven. And presumably, too: a repeat of pot-pie Tuesdays? But there is one twist, which is that the new restaurant will serve brunch until 1 a.m., including things like their Dungeness Crab Benedict. It's unclear how many nights a week that will happen, though, but yay for late-night food!
