Following Thursday's BIG NEWS that everyone's favorite genre-blending geniuses Radiohead have a new album set for release and the band is heading out on tour this spring and summer, we get a fresh rumor that they will be headlining Outside Lands this year, among other festivals.
The report comes from unidentified "sources" speaking to the site Consequence of Sound which says that as part of Radiohead's jaunt to North America, set to begin in July, they will hit the 25th annual Lollapalooza in Chicago, Montreal's Osheaga Music Festival, and our very own moody and foggy fest in Golden Gate Park, which this year is scheduled for August 5th to the 7th.
This would fit well in the band's schedule, after they've already confirmed festival dates in Europe, including Primavera Sound in Barcelona in June, and Nos Alive in Lisbon. Following Outside Lands they would likely make one or two more stops in the US (L.A.?) before a confirmed appearance at the Summersonic Festival in Tokyo on or around August 20.
Radiohead last played Outside Lands on the first night of the festival's very first outing back in 2008. They swung back through the Bay Area to do a pre-Coachella show in San Jose in 2012.
For their part, Outside Lands organizers Another Planet declined to confirm anything, saying, "We would be thrilled to have Radiohead headline Outside Lands, but we do not announce our lineup for a couple of months." Look for the official announcement to come around early June, but let this just serve as encouragement for Radiohead fans to consider those cheaper early-bird passes, when they go on sale.
As SFGate notes, this is the first rumor we have of any act on this year's OL lineup, which is likely still in the negotiations phase.
