A man reportedly jumped in front of an oncoming BART train Monday afternoon, temporarily shuttering Embarcadero Station.

As CBS 5 reports, the person was struck by an outbound Dublin/Pleasanton train at 1:25 p.m., and the SFFD received reports that the person who was seen jumping from the platform was male.

The SFO/Pittsburg/Bay Point line continued running on a single track, but all other lines were turning back most of the afternoon at West Oakland or 24th/Mission Stations. The station reopened at 5:15 p.m., but as the Chronicle reports, systemwide delays of about 20 minutes continued into the evening.

If someone you know exhibits warning signs of suicide: do not leave the person alone; remove any firearms, alcohol, drugs or sharp objects that could be used in a suicide attempt; and call the U.S. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800-273-TALK (8255) or take the person to an emergency room or seek help from a medical or mental health professional.
