Monday night marked the official premiere of Diary of a Teenage Girl at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco, and for some reason one of the film's stars, Alexander Skarsgard, decided to attend the event, and the afterparty, in drag. To be exact, a big feathered 70s blond wig, and a gold dress.
Skarsgard also attended the afterparty, at Oasis, where he met local drag queen Heklina, as you can see in the photo below. And she remarked, "He sure is pretty." Allegedly his makeup was done by Mercedez Munro, who can be seen in this bizarre recent real estate video.
You can find a bunch more red carpet photos of Skarsgard here, via Getty Images. The Daily Mail suggests the choice to do drag "may have been a nod to his co-star Joshua Grannell AKA Peaches Christ the local drag performer who plays a transvestite in the film."
Skarsgard is no stranger to heels and wigs, and also did drag in 2006's Kill Your Darlings (not to be confused with the 2013 film with Daniel Radcliffe as Allen Ginsberg). You can see a clip of that here.
There's no word yet on what his drag name is.
