As of last month we knew that Valencia Street mainstay Luna Park had been sold to the owner of Mission Beach Cafe and a closure was probably imminent — and this followed on an aborted sale back in October to the PlumpJack Group at which point owner A.J. Gilbert cited the rising minimum wage as a primary motivator.

Now as Inside Scoop reports, the closure is for real, with Gilbert saying, "Obviously closing any business is not pleasant, but Luna Park was a great experience."

Meanwhile, Mr. Eric Sir took photos of a pair of bad looking notices taped to the front door, one of which suggests there was a building inspection issue, and the other looks to be a foreclosure notice, titled "Notice of Default and Election to Sell Under Deed of Trust," citing a balance of $104,000 in late mortgage payments.

It remains to be seen if this is just a snafu with the deal to sell to Bill Clarke of Mission Beach Cafe, or if this presents a larger problem. Clarke has not said what he plans to do with the space, and the liquor license transfer is still pending.
