The San Francisco Police Department is seeking three vaguely-described suspects after a shooting in Dolores Park sent two men to San Francisco General Hospital early Sunday morning.

According to SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, two men in their 20s were standing on the Dolores Park footbridge near Church and 19th Streets at 2:40 Sunday morning as fireworks went off overhead.

That's when one was struck in the chest by gunfire, and the other shot in the arm.

Esparza says that witnesses saw three suspects, described only as "males in dark clothing," at the scene of the crime.

According to the Ex, police believe at least one of the suspects "opened fire from the Muni tracks beneath the bridge," before fleeing north on the tracks.

"They were last seen on the tracks, heading east around a bend near 20th Street," Bay City News reports.

Both victims were transported to San Francisco General Hospital. The man who was struck in the chest suffered a life-threatening wound, Esparza says, and as of Tuesday morning he continues to fight for his life. The other man's injuries are not considered life-threatening, Esparza says.

Police did not have any additional suspect details, nor did they release any motive behind the shooting. However, anyone with with information on this crime is encouraged to contact SFPD's anonymous tip line at 415-575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411 with "SFPD" in the message.
