Five days after the influential political consultant best-known for his work "convincing" Mayor Ed Lee to run for office was arrested on child pornography charges, a few more details on his case have trickled out, including what charges he's expected to face and why police said he was in possession of "stolen property."

As you already know, Pearce is the founder of Left Coast Communications, a SF-based political consultancy known for its work with local politicians like Lee, Supes Jane Kim and Norman Yee, former Supe Christina Olague, U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee of Oakland, and Board of Education members Sandra Lee Fewer and Hydra Mendoza.

He also runs Pearce Law Offices, which handles employment, labor, and contract law, out of the same office that houses Left Coast. As of publication time, it appears that Left Coast's website is no longer operational, but Pearce Law's remains online.

Pearce was arrested last Thursday, on allegations of possession of stolen property and for his alleged possession of over 600 images of minors engaging in sexual acts.

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Grace Gatpandan, officers executed a search warrant on Pearce's residence at McAllister Street near Leavenworth Street after an unnamed tipster started SFPD's Sex Crimes Unit on a child porn investigation focused on Pearce.

The police search revealed "over 600 images related to child pornography," with many "involving sexual sadism or sexual masochism," Gatpandan says. Gatpandan couldn't say how Pearce was storing the images, or how police believe they were distributed.

And the "stolen property"? According to the Ex, "Pearce allegedly had a stolen parking meter in his residence."

San Francisco Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Kenya Briggs told Bay City News that Pearce ponied up his $215,000 bail and was released from jail "less than 24 hours after he was arrested."

San Francisco District Attorney's Office spokesperson Max Szabo says that prosecutors will be charging Pearce with six felonies related to child pornography, and that he will also face charges for the stolen parking meter.

Meanwhile, Pearce has also seen his professional life crumble. According to the Ex, "last year, records show Pearce and his firm logged $665,446 worth of political work — mailers, campaign expenses and consulting fees — for five campaigns." However, in the wake of his arrest, it appears that all of his political clients have cut him loose, including a lucrative, $5,000-a-month consultantancy with Mayor Ed Lee.

According to the Chron, Lee “directed his campaign to terminate all ties with Mr. Pearce and his firm, effective immediately,” a mayoral spokesperson said.

Pearce is expected to return to court for his arraignment this coming Thursday or Friday. According to Gatpandan, he "will not be treated any differently because he is a public figure."
