A weekend drive-by shooting in the Tenderloin has left a 30-year-old Oakland man dead, and the San Francisco Police Department seeking witnesses or video surveillance that might help them identify a suspect.

30-year-old Ramon Cruz was standing on the 500 block of Larkin Street, which is between Turk and Eddy streets, at 1:10 a.m. Saturday when an unidentified suspect or suspects drove past him in a light-colored, late-model SUV and opened fire, SFPD spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza says.

Cruz was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Esparza says that as of publication time, police did not have any suspect information, but that Homicide investigators are seeking footage from area video surveillance in an effort to identify the shooter.

According to an SFPD spokesperson, Cruz's slaying is San Francisco's 20th homicide for 2015.

As always, Esparza says, if you know anything about the case, please contact SFPD's Anonymous Tip Line at 415- 575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
