A 7.8 earthquake hit Nepal on Saturday morning, local time, killing at least 1,500 and triggering avalanches on Mount Everest. Among the at least 10 mountaineers confirmed killed around Everest is Google executive Dan Fredinburg.
Earlier Saturday morning, California time, Fredinburg's sister posted to his Instagram a photo of the tech exec along with a note that he had died from a "major head injury" as a result of the avalanche. Google confirmed the death of their employee earlier this afternoon:

The 7.8 earthquake has devastated the South Asian country, as the death toll continues to rise as the rubble is cleared.
