Back in December we heard that the PlumpJack Group had moved in on the former Sloane nightclub space in SoMa (1525 Mission Street near 11th) with plans for a lounge of some kind, and now we get a few more details via Eater. Coming first will be a high-end cocktail spot called Forgery, headed up by Kimpton Hotels cocktail gurus Jacques Bezuidenhout and Ken Luciano.
They'll be carving out 2,000 square feet of the space with its brick interior, second-floor loft, and mahogany bar, and adding some black leather banquettes, with a hope to open sometime in May.
The plan for the full nightclub is still TBD, apparently, and the PlumpJack team is simultaneously busy with the upcoming takeover of the Lexington Club in the Mission. That bar, which is basically the city's last full-time lesbian bar, is slated to close with a weekend of parties April 24 to 25.
And as you may know, the PlumpJack Group is headed by by Lieutenant Governor/former mayor Gavin Newsom's sister, Hillary Newsom, and also includes Balboa Cafe, Matrix Fillmore, the Carneros Inn in Napa, a trio of wineries, and the PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn in Tahoe.
Check Forgery's Facebook page for updates on the opening as they arrive.
