The stars of HBO's hit series and their fans descended like a dragon on Civic Center last night for the Game of Thrones Season 5 US premier, bringing a bit of Westeros to San Francisco. In promoting the new HBO Now standalone subscription service available on Apple TV the network rolled out a black carpet fit for a Lannister as actors like Peter Dinklage — who portrays Tyrion of that family line — strutted their stuff. Companies such as Twitter reportedly nabbed tickets for employees and some fans even got into character themselves, as there were more than a few Daenerys Targaryens in attendance.
San Francisco's serious nerd population has been a stronghold of Game of Thrones fandom, and it was a sweet reward to host the premiere here which have been held in New York for past seasons.
