It was a violent weekend in San Francisco, which ended with two men dead in separate incidents, and the police still seeking suspects in both cases.

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Officer Albie Esparza, officers were called to the area of Mission Street and Geneva Avenue at 2:43 a.m. Saturday, on the report of shots fired.

When officers arrived, they discovered a man, identified by the Chron as 39-year-old San Francisco resident Orlando Ford, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, Esparza says.

"A suspect was seen fleeing," Esparza says, but had no description to provide at publication time.

Then, Saturday night at 8:24 p.m., police were called to the Tenderloin intersection of O'Farrell and Larkin Streets, on reports that a man had been stabbed, Esparza says.

They found the victim, identified by SF Weekly as 25-year-old Isaac Cruz, lying on the sidewalk with at least one stab wound to the chest. He was transported to San Francisco General, but was pronounced dead at 8:48 that night.

"At this time there is no description of suspects or suspect info," Esparza says.

Obviously, police can use some help with these slayings. Do you have any information on either? If so, Esparza urges you to make an anonymous call to the SFPD at 415-575-4444 or to send a tip via text to TIP411 with "SFPD" at the start of the message.
