Loma Prieta 25 Years Later: Former A's Remember The Quake At Candlestick

In remembrance of the Loma Prieta earthquake — which happened 25 years ago Friday, on October 17, 1989 — SFist will be devoting some special coverage to the historical record of the quake itself, and its aftermath, over the next several days.

KRON 4 caught up with some former A's players who remember still being inside the Candlestick clubhouse, just before the World Series, when the Loma Prieta Earthquake struck at 5:04 p.m. on October 17, 1989. They have some historic footage as well as well as brief interviews, including one with then infielder Mike Gallego, who tells the story of going back into the smoky, lights-out clubhouse because he had to find his glove.
