In the Giants' first post-season game in Washington, D.C., which may have led to a $15 million loss in productivity citywide today, our boys triumphed. Things got a little tense in 6th, though.

Starting pitcher Jake Peavy pitched five and two-thirds innings and 75 pitches of shut-outs, preserving a 3-0 lead, only to be replaced in the 6th after letting a couple Nationals on base. At that point rookie Hunter Strickland came in, followed by Sergio Romo in the 8th, after Strickland let in 2 solo homeruns by Bryce Harper and Asdrubal Cabrera — with Harper's traveling approximately eight miles.

Bruce Bochy kept his cool through the tensest moments, and Romo brought us home, delivering a good start for the team's post-season.

It was the slow and steady offense that won it, though, with Joe Panik, Brandon Crawford and Buster Posey driving in the Giants' runs all off singles.

Tomorrow's Game 2 against the Nationals starts at 2:37 p.m. PT and will also be at Nationals Park in D.C.
