A woman's quick reflexes and a baby's sheer luck were the only things that prevented tragedy last Friday, when a traffic collision in SoMa sent an SUV straight into the path of a baby and guardian.
According to KPIX, at around 9:45 a.m. Friday, an SUV and car collided at Third and Harrison Streets. The crash sent the SUV careening onto the sidewalk and directly toward a woman pushing a baby in a stroller, who pulled the child back with what seems like inches to spare.
Instead, as you can see from the security footage in the video below, the SUV merely hit the handrail of an area building.
An SFPD spokesperson confirmed the details of the incident, and told KPIX that the collision remains under investigation.
Police say that both drivers complained of pain, and were hospitalized following the crash.
