This post is brought to you by Tahoe South.

You've already learned five reasons Lake Tahoe is just as awesome in the summer as it is in the winter, but here's a little extra info on what to do once you've taken in those ethereal vibes. Use it to plan your trip, pack your toys (bikes, boards, boats—no boat? Rent one when you get there, duh), and convince your five favorite friends to pile into a rental minivan with you. You know it'll be worth it.

Tahoe South brings a next-level Wild Summer Series this year, all in celebration of living life the Tahoe way—that's the right way, man—for the entire summer season. Here's just a short list of what's going on:

Free live music all summer. Head to Lakeview Commons and Heavenly Village for concerts up until the leaves start falling and it's time to plan your ski trip back. Live at Lakeview is a huge free summer concert series complete with food vendors, a beer garden, and local merchants selling all the good stuff to stuff your duffle bag. Heavenly Village hosts constant free concerts that run the gamut from acoustic folk to modern psychedelia to reggae to '80s covers. Definitely something for everyone, not to mention enough shopping and foodstuffs to sink a pontoon boat. Opportunities abound both here and across the street at the brand-spanking new (like, just-opening-in-July new) Chateau at the Village.

The American Century Celebrity Golf Championship. For 25 years, South Lake Tahoe has hosted the most prestigious celebrity golf tournament in the country, and it's a great opportunity to see hundreds of sports legends and entertainers all in one place. The silver anniversary of this beloved event is bringing together quite the crew: find your autograph book and get ready to stalk everyone from Aaron Rodgers to Steve Young, Rob Riggle, John Elway, Jason Kidd, and Annika Sorenstam, former PGA grandmaster and current living legend who's still got them shaking in their golf booties. July 15-20.

Labor Day events. Tahoe South struts quite a series for Labor Day, so it's definitely a good way to take advantage of a three day pre-fall weekend. On the way up through El Dorado County tour a farm, chomp some apples and pet some really soft alpacas. Choose sides and wager on the winner of the Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race; watch spectacular fireworks reflect in the mirror of Lake Tahoe; try local food, wine, and other fare at Sample the Sierra, Tahoe South's own celebration of all things farm-to-fork. Not bad ways to enjoy the outdoors. August 30 - September 1.

A History of the Eagles. The Eagles land (well, there really are real eagles to be spotted here, but these are the musical kind) on Lake Tahoe’s South Shore on their national tour, and it's really something you should see. The legends will be playing classics spanning their entire career, as well as some tracks from their critically-acclaimed documentary, History of the Eagles. Tickets are going fast for this one. August 29-30.

The Lake Tahoe Marathon. This is one of the most epically beautiful marathons in the country. The altitude takes its toll on your endurance for sure, but around every single bend is a new view of the lake and scenery that makes the area famous. There are shorter and longer races if you're not into the whole 26.2 miles thing, and it being in September means you'll be blessed with mild weather—and the time to train if you start now. September 11-14.

The Great Lake Tahoe Bike Race. If you prefer pedals to peds, no worries; there's been a cycling complement to the marathon since 2003. The series of events features a hill climb challenge, a flat-level speed challenge, and a winding, timed-race around Lake Tahoe itself. Choose the 36 or 72-mile route and don't worry if you're not a hammerhead—it's a beautifully-designed race for everyone. September 27-28.

This is just a start—check out the Tahoe South site for details on these and all the other things you could be doing in the mountains this summer!
