Yan Feng*, a Chinese national living in Daly City, was arrested in connection with last week's Chinese Consulate fire. He apparently turned himself in to the authorities on Friday.

The Chronicle reports: "Agency officials said Nan Yeng, 39, called authorities on Friday and soon turned himself in at Daly City's police headquarters. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of two federal charges, arson and damaging the property of a foreign government."

As for why? We don't know yet. According to CBS 5's Joe Vazquez, have "some inkling" as to what his motives were for torching the Pac Heights-based consulate. After the incident, "Chinese officials called for stepped-up protection of diplomats in the United States."

On January 2, Feng allegedly lit the consulate’s front doors ablaze after dousing the front door with a couple bucket of gasoline. No one was injured, but the consulate's door and lobby were badly charred.

*UPDATE/SEMI-CLARIFICATION: CBS SF has the suspect identified as Yan Feng, the Chronicle has him identified as Nan Yeng. Both, however, agree he's 39. So at least there's that.

UPDATE/CLARIFICATION: The suspect's name is Yan Feng.
