Fans of RuPaul's Drag Race who are still annoyed at the paucity of representation from San Francisco (no disrespect to last season contender Honey Mahogany, who performed admirably despite that kaftan incident) can at least rest assured that most of the cast members will make it through town on their various tours of gay ghettos. And next weekend it's the reigning queen herself, Season 5 winner Jinkx Monsoon, who'll be joining Peaches Christ at the Castro Theatre for Return to Grey Gardens.

For those who missed the Drag Race, Jinkx won people over with her comedy, most especially with a spot-on impression of of Little Edie Beale.

The premise for the pre-show on October 12, which will precede a pair of screenings of the great Maysles documentery Grey Gardens, sounds actually hilarious. Basically it's 40 years after Jinkx has won Drag Race, and she and Peaches (Little Jinkxy and Big Peachy) are found in the abandoned Castro Theatre "performing drag shows nightly to only raccoons and cats." John Waters favorite Mink Stole will take part, playing a "friend from back in the day" to Peaches, and will be the voice of reason evaluating the queens' sanity. Also starring will be Lady Bear.

And for those of you don't know Grey Gardens, you should really go. It is an essential part of American underground/camp history, with connections to the Kennedys, and that HBO movie they made really can't replace the non-fiction footage. (You can also catch it on YouTube.)

See the trailer below, and note that there will be two shows on October 12 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., after which Jinkx will be flying back to New York to continue her Off-Broadway appearances in The Vaudevillians.
