We recently told you about Mike Judge's Silicon Valley comedy pilot being shot for HBO down in Palo Alto, and today we learn there's a second HBO pilot set in the Bay Area, lending us a twinge of pride that our city is somehow newly culturally pertinent, or something.

Of course we always were. But anyway, the new show, an as-yet-untitled comedy, centers on the lives of some thirtysomething gay men, and as Mission Mission reports, they're going to be shooting in the Mission and elsewhere starting next week, possibly at Dolores Park and elsewhere. (See the extras casting notice here, which includes a male stripper to play a "dancing bear" and strip down to some bikini briefs.)

The script is being penned by Michael Lannan, who helped produce Remember Me, and Interior. Leather Bar., that S.F.-based experimental gay flick by Travis Matthews, that was also produced and co-directed by James Franco and premiered in January at Sundance. He also worked on I Want Your Love, the alterna-beardy-gay porn film set in S.F. that was recently banned in Australia. The pilot is based on a script he wrote called Lorimer, which we think was originally set in Brooklyn.

The show will be getting supervision by Brothers & Sisters creator David Marshall Grant.

And it will star Jonathan Groff, famous most recently for playing Jesse St. James, the competing high school's glee club coach.

Below, just as a point of reference, the trailer for I Want Your Love, even though this show probably won't be anything like it.
