Mike Judge, creator of the original office slacker comedy, will be in Palo Alto today filming scenes for a new HBO pilot about life in the strike-it-rich, startup world of Silicon Valley. After the cringeworthy flop that was Bravo's Start-Ups: Silicon Valley, maybe a little dark humor is what the tech world needs to stop taking itself so seriously.

The project, currently filming under the title "Silicon Valley," was greenlit by HBO back in December and reportedly follows six programmers trying to make it in an industry where "the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success," which sounds much more promising than "Geeks are the new rock stars." Along with Judge are his King of the Hill producing/writing partners John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the show is filming around town today and will close part of the tony University Avenue this evening, with its blocks of coffee shops, tapas bars and an Apple Store. The characters themselves, however, reportedly live in the more rundown corner of East Palo Alto. So, depending on the tone here, the show could turn out to be anything from a glitzy Entourage for brogrammers to a Girls for dudes who are trying to make it while living in their Hondas.

Either way, we can't wait until someone pitches their idea for a Jump to Conclusions app:
